Viseu District tour packages explore the green Dão wine country in central-northern Portugal. Viseu has a granite old town with a cathedral and the Grão Vasco Museum, while Lamego, further north, has a baroque pilgrimage stairway and a Douro-side wine culture. Fine Dão reds, chestnuts and Serra da Lapa cheese are local pleasures. Quiet roads and country manor stays make the district good for a slower trip. Two days work well. Spring and autumn offer the best colours.
