July to September has the mildest weather and the best chance for coastal wildlife. Winters are long, dark and bitterly cold.
A week or more is realistic because of long, weather-dependent transfers. Expedition cruises usually take ten days or more.
Travellers from India usually fly to Moscow, direct or via a Gulf hub, and continue by a flight of about eight hours from Moscow to Anadyr, plus local flights or expedition ships to remote places; border-zone permits are essential. A Russian visa must be arranged before departure.
