Murmansk Oblast tour packages take you above the Arctic Circle to the Kola Peninsula, one of the best places in Russia to see the Northern Lights. Murmansk is the largest city inside the Arctic Circle and home to the Atomflot icebreakers. Teriberka brings dramatic Barents Sea cliffs and beaches, the Khibiny Mountains offer skiing around Kirovsk, and the Sami village of Lovozero shares reindeer-herding traditions. Winter is cold but magical, and polar nights are long.

September to March gives the best Northern Lights, and December to February suits skiing and snow activities. June and July bring the midnight sun.
Four to five days are ideal for the Northern Lights, Teriberka and Khibiny. A shorter three-day stay covers Murmansk and one excursion.
Travellers from India usually fly to Moscow, direct or via a Gulf hub, and continue by a two-hour flight from Moscow to Murmansk, or an overnight train from Saint Petersburg. A Russian visa must be arranged before departure.
