Tyumen Oblast tour packages introduce the gateway to Siberia, where Russia’s first Siberian town was founded in 1586. Tyumen has a lovely river embankment, a Bridge of Lovers and thermal pools, while Tobolsk boasts the only stone kremlin in Siberia, a white-walled citadel on a bluff above the Irtysh. The chemist Dmitri Mendeleev was born in Tobolsk. Tyumen is also a modern oil-and-gas centre with museums and parks, and the Tura embankment is lovely in the evening.
