May to September is ideal for walking and cycling around Suzdal, while winter gives postcard views of snow-covered domes. Weekdays are quieter than weekends.

Travellers from India usually fly to Moscow, direct or via a Gulf hub, and continue by road or train for about two to three hours from Moscow; a high-speed train serves Vladimir directly. A Russian visa must be arranged before departure.
