Aginsky Datsan tour packages visit a colourful Buddhist temple complex in the steppe near the village of Aginskoye. Rebuilt in the 1990s, the datsan holds a golden Buddha, a large prayer wheel and traditional murals, and it serves as the spiritual centre for the Aga Buryats. Lamas hold regular services, and visitors are welcome to watch if they dress modestly. A small museum displays Buddhist art and local history.
