Obwalden tourism is centred on Engelberg, a high valley village below the glacier of Mount Titlis, plus the lake and pastures around Sarnen. One of the least populated Swiss cantons, it offers peace, mountain air and an authentic farming atmosphere.A rotating cable car takes visitors up the Titlis, and in winter snow-sure slopes attract skiers and snowboarders. Engelberg also has a historic Benedictine monastery and a cheese dairy to visit. Sarnen is a quiet lake town. The valley is an easy trip from Lucerne in about an hour. Plan a day or an overnight stay, and visit in any season.

Titlis has snow all year, so every season works. June to September is best for walking in Engelberg, and December to March is for skiing.
A day trip from Lucerne covers Titlis. Stay one night in Engelberg for a relaxed trip with time for the monastery and the dairy.
A direct train takes about 50 minutes from Lucerne. Indian travellers usually fly to Zürich and go by rail via Lucerne.
