Catamarca tourism covers a quiet northwestern province of high desert, volcanoes and ancient indigenous heritage. The capital San Fernando del Valle de Catamarca is known for its pilgrimage basilica and woollen ponchos, while the thermal springs and giant dunes of Fiambalá attract adventurers. Far to the west, Antofagasta de la Sierra sits among puna salt flats, lava fields and remote volcanoes. Most of the province is dry and high, with comfortable weather from April to October.
