Rio Grande do Sul tour packages explore Brazil’s southern gaucho country, with a cooler climate and strong European influences. Gramado and Canela are alpine-style towns popular for chocolate, fondue and Christmas lights, Bento Gonçalves is the heart of the Serra Gaúcha wine region, and Cambará do Sul has dramatic canyons. The capital Porto Alegre sits on the Guaíba lake. Winters are cold and sometimes bring snow, so March to May and September to November are most comfortable.

March to May and September to November are mild and pleasant. June to August can be cold with occasional frost, which suits winter festivals in Gramado.
Four to five days cover Gramado, Canela and the Bento Gonçalves wine area. Add two days for Cambará do Sul and the canyons.
Fly to São Paulo or Rio via a Gulf or European hub and connect to Porto Alegre, which takes about two hours. Gramado is then around 120 kilometres away by road.
