Vaupés tour packages reach one of Colombia’s most remote and least visited regions, deep in the northwest Amazon, where indigenous peoples such as the Tukano and Desana maintain traditions of language, rock art and river life. Mitú, the capital, is reached by small plane and serves as a base for river trips on the Vaupés River. Facilities are very basic, and visits must be arranged with a specialist operator and respectful guides. This is for experienced adventurers only.

Four to five days are needed because of limited flights and slow boat travel.
