Oaxaca tour packages are a favourite of food and culture lovers, with indigenous traditions, mole sauces, mezcal distilleries and colourful craft villages. Oaxaca City has a UNESCO-listed centre, Monte Albán is a hilltop Zapotec capital, and Hierve el Agua has petrified waterfalls. The coast brings the surf town of Puerto Escondido and the bays of Huatulco. Plan five to six days, and note that Day of the Dead and Guelaguetza are the busiest times.
