San Luis Potosí tour packages mix a charming colonial capital with some of Mexico’s most unusual landscapes. Real de Catorce is a former silver town high in the desert, Xilitla hosts the surreal concrete sculptures of Las Pozas, and the Huasteca Potosina has turquoise rivers and waterfalls such as Tamul. October to April is dry, although Real de Catorce is cold at night and the Huasteca waterfalls look best after the summer rains.
Four to five days cover the capital, Real de Catorce and a night or two in the Huasteca. A shorter trip can focus on Real de Catorce alone.
The road is about three hours from San Luis Potosí, followed by a one-way tunnel into the town. Many visitors take a jeep ride the last stretch.
