The coastal village of Mystic offers a maritime museum, an aquarium and seafood by the harbour, while New Haven is home to Yale University, one of the oldest and best-known campuses in the world, with art museums and historic architecture. Inland, covered bridges, village greens and vineyards line quiet country roads, and autumn foliage in October is especially colourful. The state is small, so most places can be reached within two hours of each other. Late spring to October is the best time.
