June to September is the beach season, while May and October are quieter and still pleasant. Winter can be cold, and many seaside businesses close.
One or two days are enough for Wilmington's gardens, and a further two for Rehoboth Beach. Most visitors combine Delaware with Philadelphia or Washington, D.C.
Fly into Philadelphia, which is about 40 minutes from Wilmington by road or train, or into Baltimore or Washington. Rehoboth Beach is roughly two hours from Wilmington by car.
