Vermont tour packages are famous for autumn colour, maple syrup and small-town charm. The Green Mountains run down the middle of the state, and villages such as Stowe have white-steepled churches, ski slopes and mountain trails. Burlington, the largest city, sits beside Lake Champlain with a pedestrian marketplace, farmers’ markets and sunset views over the Adirondacks. Covered bridges, dairy farms and cheese makers add rural flavour. Foliage peaks from late September to mid-October, and winter brings skiing and sleigh rides. Summers are green and mild.

Late September to mid-October is the foliage season. December to March suits skiing, and July and August are warm and green.

Fly to Burlington via a US hub, or to Boston or Montreal and drive three to four hours. Stowe is about 45 minutes from Burlington by road.
