Martinborough is a small village in the Wairarapa, about 1.5 hours from Wellington by road, known for outstanding Pinot Noir. Around 20 cellar doors cluster near the town square, many within walking or cycling distance on flat farmland. Local olive oil, cheeses and tapas-style lunches pair with the wines. The village’s Victorian pubs and boutiques give it a relaxed feel, and it is best visited at harvest time in March and April.
