Two days with an overnight stay in an onsen town are ideal. Add one more to include Ikaho and Tomioka.
Kusatsu is about three hours by limited express to Naganohara-Kusatsuguchi and a bus. Minakami is around 75 minutes by Shinkansen to Jomo-Kogen.
