Lai Chau tour packages explore one of Vietnam’s most remote north-western provinces, a land of high passes, cloud-covered plateaus and many ethnic groups. The O Quy Ho Pass is the longest mountain pass in the country and links Lai Chau with Sapa. Sin Ho Plateau has cool weather, tea, fruit orchards and Hmong and Dao villages, and Muong Te offers rice fields and waterfalls. Facilities are basic and distances are long, so it suits adventurous travellers who prefer quiet places. Combine it with Sapa for a longer northern circuit.

September to November is the best period, with clear skies and golden fields. Spring offers flowers, while summer rain can cause landslides.
Two to three days are enough for the pass and Sin Ho. A longer circuit with Sapa needs five days.
Lai Chau city is about eight to nine hours from Hanoi by road. Many visitors drive over O Quy Ho Pass from Sapa instead.
